tendinopathy

Chronic tendon disorder

Tendinopathy is a medical term for disease or damage affecting a tendon—the fibrous tissue connecting muscle to bone.

The condition involves pain, swelling, and impaired function, typically from overuse or repetitive strain: Runner's knee and tennis elbow are common tendinopathies.

The term has largely replaced tendinitis in clinical usage, since the condition often involves degeneration rather than inflammation.
