sweat gland

Skin's cooling organ

A sweat gland is a small tubular structure in the skin that secretes perspiration.

Humans have millions of them, concentrated in the armpits, palms, and soles.

They regulate body temperature through evaporative cooling and, in areas like the armpits, produce the thicker secretions associated with body odor.
