tau

Torque's Greek symbol

Tau is the nineteenth letter of the Greek alphabet (Τ, τ), corresponding to the English T.

In mathematics and physics, tau represents various quantities—most notably the mathematical constant equal to 2π (approximately 6.28), which some mathematicians argue is more natural than pi for describing circles.

In biology, tau proteins help stabilize cellular structures; their malfunction is associated with Alzheimer's disease.
