lepton

Muon or neutrino

A lepton is any of a class of elementary particles that do not participate in the strong nuclear force—electrons, muons, tau particles, and their associated neutrinos.

Leptons are fundamental constituents of matter, distinct from quarks.

The term comes from Greek for "small" or "light," though the tau lepton is actually quite heavy.
