talus

Slope of debris

Talus has two distinct meanings in English.

In anatomy, the talus is the anklebone—the bone that connects the foot to the leg and bears the body's weight.

In geology, talus is the accumulation of rock debris at the base of a cliff or steep slope: The hikers picked their way across the talus field.

Both uses are somewhat technical.
