tablature

Guitar reading method

Tablature is a system of musical notation that shows where to place fingers on an instrument rather than which pitches to play.

Guitar tablature uses six horizontal lines representing strings, with numbers indicating frets: I learned the song from tablature online.

The format makes music accessible to players who don't read standard notation.

Often shortened to tab.
