standard tuning
Guitar's default pitch
Standard tuning is the conventional arrangement of pitches for a stringed instrument, especially the guitar.
On a six-string guitar, standard tuning runs E-A-D-G-B-E from lowest to highest string.
Most instruction, tablature, and chord diagrams assume standard tuning: The song works best in standard tuning.
Other tunings are defined in relation to it—drop D lowers one string, open G changes several.
