lead sheet
Basic music transcription
A lead sheet is a simplified musical score showing only the melody line, lyrics, and chord symbols—the bare essentials a musician needs to perform a song.
Jazz and pop musicians use lead sheets to improvise around a tune's basic structure: The band worked from lead sheets, not full arrangements.
A collection of lead sheets is called a fake book.
