swine influenza
Porcine respiratory virus
Swine influenza is a respiratory disease of pigs caused by influenza A viruses.
The term gained wide currency during the 2009 H1N1 pandemic, when a strain that had circulated in pig populations jumped to humans and spread globally.
Also called swine flu: The swine flu outbreak overwhelmed emergency rooms.
