monovalent

Forms one bond

Monovalent describes something with a single valence or binding capacity.

In chemistry, a monovalent atom or ion has a valence of one, meaning it can form only one chemical bond: Sodium is monovalent, bonding with one chlorine atom to form table salt.

In immunology, a monovalent vaccine targets a single strain of a pathogen, as opposed to multivalent vaccines covering several.
