quadrivalent
Having four valences
Quadrivalent means having a valence of four—able to combine with four atoms of hydrogen or its equivalent.
In chemistry, carbon is quadrivalent, forming four bonds.
In medicine, a quadrivalent vaccine protects against four strains of a pathogen: the quadrivalent flu shot, quadrivalent HPV vaccine.
Also called tetravalent.
