supertitles
Projected stage translations
Supertitles are translated or transcribed text projected above a stage during opera, theater, or other live performances, allowing audiences to follow dialogue or lyrics in an unfamiliar language.
The term distinguishes them from subtitles, which appear below the image in film.
Also called surtitles: The opera house added supertitles for the Russian production.
