supertitle
Projected stage translation
Supertitles are translations or transcriptions projected above a stage during opera, theater, or other live performances, allowing audiences to follow dialogue or lyrics in an unfamiliar language.
The term distinguishes them from subtitles, which appear below the image in film: The supertitles helped me follow the Italian libretto.
Also called surtitles.
