submergible

Able to submerge

Submergible describes something capable of being submerged—put underwater or beneath another surface.

The word applies to vessels designed to operate underwater, equipment that can withstand immersion, or materials that sink rather than float.

The submergible pump works even when the basement floods.

Often interchangeable with submersible, though submersible is more common for vessels.
