crush depth
Submarine's fatal limit
Crush depth is the depth at which water pressure will collapse a submarine's hull, destroying the vessel.
Every submarine has a maximum operating depth well above its crush depth, providing a safety margin.
The term extends to any pressure threshold beyond which a structure fails catastrophically.
