cloud layer
Atmospheric moisture sheet
A cloud layer is a horizontal band of clouds at a particular altitude, often appearing as a distinct stratum in the sky.
Meteorologists and pilots use the term to describe cloud coverage at specific heights: We're flying above the cloud layer, A thick cloud layer blocked the sun all afternoon.
Multiple cloud layers can exist simultaneously at different elevations.
