straightedge
Flat drawing tool
A straightedge is a ruler or strip with a perfectly straight edge, used for drawing lines or checking surfaces for flatness.
Unlike a ruler, a straightedge typically lacks measurement markings—it's purely for alignment.
Separately, straightedge (often styled straight edge) describes a punk subculture rejecting alcohol, drugs, and tobacco: He's been straightedge since high school.
