stinger
Wasp's sharp weapon
A stinger is something that stings—the pointed organ of a bee or wasp, or the venomous barb of a scorpion.
The term extends to sharp, stinging sensations: a stinger in sports is a nerve injury causing burning pain down the arm.
A stinger can also be a pointed remark or a surprising twist at the end of a story or film.
In drinking, a stinger is a cocktail of brandy and crème de menthe.
That last scene was a real stinger.
