stevia

Leafy sugar substitute

Stevia is a plant-derived sweetener with little to no calories, extracted from the leaves of a South American shrub.

It's intensely sweet—hundreds of times sweeter than sugar—so a tiny amount goes far.

Stevia appears in diet sodas, sugar-free products, and as packets for sweetening coffee or tea: I use stevia instead of sugar.
