pergola

Latticed garden structure

A pergola is an outdoor structure consisting of vertical posts supporting an open lattice of crossbeams, typically used to create a shaded walkway or sitting area.

Climbing plants like vines or roses are often trained to grow over it: Wisteria draped the pergola in purple.

Unlike a gazebo, a pergola has no solid roof.
