silver carp
Asian river fish
Silver carp is a large freshwater fish native to East Asia, introduced to North American waters where it has become an invasive species.
These fish are notorious for leaping out of the water when startled by boat motors, sometimes injuring boaters.
They filter-feed on plankton, outcompeting native species and disrupting ecosystems: The river is overrun with silver carp.
