rugs

Woven floor coverings

Rugs are thick fabric floor coverings, typically smaller than carpets and not wall-to-wall.

A rug might cover part of a hardwood floor or define a seating area.

Rugs also appear as blankets or wraps: a lap rug, a prayer rug.

In British slang, a rug is a toupee.

To pull the rug out from under someone is to suddenly withdraw support.
