round robin

Everyone plays everyone

A round robin is a tournament format where every competitor plays every other competitor, rather than being eliminated after a loss.

The term extends to any sequential rotation through a group: a round-robin email circulates to each person in turn, and round-robin scheduling distributes tasks or resources equally among participants.

The teams played a round-robin to determine seeding for the playoffs.
