Ionesco
Romanian-French dramatist
Ionesco refers to Eugène Ionesco (1909–1994), a Romanian-French playwright who pioneered the Theatre of the Absurd.
His plays, including *The Bald Soprano* and *Rhinoceros*, use illogical scenarios, nonsensical dialogue, and dark humor to expose the meaninglessness of conventional social rituals and language.
The adjective Ionescian or Ionesco-like describes work that shares his surreal, absurdist quality: The meeting devolved into something positively Ionesco.
