rewinding
Tape going back
Rewinding is returning something to an earlier point—originally magnetic tape spooled backward to replay audio or video: I kept rewinding that scene to catch the dialogue.
The word persists even for digital media that has no physical tape: Let me rewind a bit.
Figuratively, to rewind is to revisit or reconsider: If we could rewind to last Tuesday, I'd make a different choice.
