time slip
Involuntary era jump
A time slip is a narrative device or purported phenomenon in which a person momentarily experiences a different time period—stepping into the past or future, then returning to the present.
Unlike time travel involving machines or deliberate action, a time slip happens spontaneously and mysteriously: She walked through the garden and experienced a time slip, finding herself in Victorian England.
The term appears in fiction, paranormal accounts, and discussions of anomalous experiences.
