overturn

Flip upside down

To overturn is to turn something over—to flip, capsize, or upset it so that what was on top is now on bottom: The canoe overturned in the rapids.

The word extends to reversing decisions or established states: courts overturn verdicts, revolutions overturn governments.

An overturn is such a reversal: the overturn of the conviction.
