replicants
Manufactured human copies
Replicants are bioengineered humanoids in the *Blade Runner* universe—artificial beings designed to be nearly indistinguishable from humans.
The term has spread beyond the films to describe any synthetic being that mimics human appearance and behavior: The robots were so lifelike they seemed like replicants.
The word sometimes appears in discussions of AI and cloning, carrying undertones of existential unease about what makes someone truly human.
