reg

Abbreviated official rule

Reg is informal for regulation, usually in the plural: federal regs, safety regs, the new regs take effect in January.

Common in bureaucratic and business contexts where regulations govern activity.

In British English, reg also shortens registration, particularly for vehicle registration numbers: a car with an old reg.
