rocksteady
Ska's slower successor
Rocksteady is a Jamaican music genre that emerged in the mid-1960s, bridging ska and reggae.
Slower and smoother than ska, it emphasized bass lines and vocal harmonies: The rocksteady era produced some of Jamaica's finest love songs.
The term also describes something utterly stable and reliable—as steady as a rock: Her hands were rocksteady during the surgery.
