World's tallest trees
Redwoods are massive coniferous trees native to coastal California and southern Oregon, among the tallest and longest-lived organisms on Earth.
The term usually refers to the coast redwood, though it includes the giant sequoia of the Sierra Nevada.
Redwood lumber, prized for its rot resistance and rich color, drove extensive logging of old-growth forests.
