pulse ox

Fingertip oxygen reader

Pulse ox is short for pulse oximeter, a small medical device that clips onto a fingertip to measure blood oxygen levels and heart rate.

The device became widely familiar during the COVID-19 pandemic as a way to monitor respiratory function at home: Her pulse ox reading dropped to 92, so we called the doctor.
