Fraction passing through
Transmittance is a measure of how much light or other radiation passes through a material rather than being absorbed or reflected.
A clear window has high transmittance; frosted glass has lower transmittance.
The term appears in optics, spectroscopy, and materials science: The sample showed 85% transmittance at visible wavelengths.
