powerhead

Water movement device

A powerhead is a motorized pump that creates water circulation, most commonly in aquariums where it keeps water moving and oxygenated: I added a powerhead to improve flow in the reef tank.

In outdoor equipment, a powerhead is a firearm-like device used underwater to dispatch fish or defend against sharks—it fires when pressed directly against the target.

The term also applies to detachable motor units on string trimmers and other yard tools.
