possessive pronoun

Mine or yours

A possessive pronoun indicates ownership or association without being followed by a noun: mine, yours, his, hers, its, ours, theirs.

That book is mine.

The choice is yours.

These contrast with possessive adjectives (my, your, her), which must precede a noun: my book, not mine book.
