noun phrase
Modified noun unit
A noun phrase is a group of words that functions as a noun, built around a central noun with its modifiers: the old house on the corner, my brother's red bicycle, everyone in the room.
The phrase can serve as subject, object, or complement—anywhere a single noun could appear.
In The tall woman in the blue coat left early, the subject is a noun phrase, not just "woman."
