point person

Designated main liaison

A point person is the designated leader or primary contact for a project, initiative, or task.

The term comes from military usage, where the point man walks at the front of a patrol, exposed to the most danger.

In civilian contexts, the point person coordinates efforts and serves as the main liaison: She's our point person on the merger.
