shadow figure
Murky humanoid shape
A shadow figure is a dark, humanoid shape seen in peripheral vision or dim light, often interpreted as a ghostly presence or supernatural entity.
The term appears frequently in paranormal accounts and horror fiction: She glimpsed a shadow figure at the end of the hallway.
Shadow figures also describe the vague silhouettes people report during sleep paralysis episodes.
More neutrally, shadow figure can mean any person whose identity or features remain obscured—a mysterious background player whose role isn't fully known.
