ploughland
Soil under cultivation
Ploughland is land suitable for or used for cultivation by plough—arable farmland as opposed to pasture, woodland, or waste.
In historical British usage, ploughland also served as a unit of land measurement, roughly the area one plough team could work in a year: The manor comprised twelve ploughlands.
Also spelled plow-land.
