barony

Minor aristocratic territory

A barony is the domain or rank of a baron—the territory over which a baron holds authority, or the title itself.

Historically, baronies were feudal landholdings granted by a monarch.

The term extends to any sphere of influence or control resembling such a domain: He built a barony of car dealerships across the state.
