perambulation
A long ramble
Perambulation is the act of walking through or around a place, especially in a leisurely or inspecting manner.
The word is formal or literary: Our perambulation of the garden revealed several plants in need of attention.
Historically, it referred to officially walking the boundaries of a parish or estate to establish or verify property lines.
