parquetry
Geometric floor inlay
Parquetry is decorative woodwork made of small pieces fitted together in geometric patterns, typically used for flooring or furniture surfaces.
The pieces are usually contrasting woods arranged in repeating designs—chevrons, herringbones, or interlocking squares.
The parquetry floor in the ballroom dated to the eighteenth century.
