wood inlay
Surface veneer pattern
Wood inlay is a decorative technique where pieces of contrasting wood, shell, metal, or other materials are set into a wood surface to form patterns or images.
The inlaid pieces sit flush with the surrounding surface rather than raised above it.
Fine furniture, musical instruments, and flooring often feature wood inlay: The guitar had an elaborate wood inlay around the sound hole.
