neuromodulation
Neural activity adjustment
Neuromodulation is the use of electrical, magnetic, or chemical stimulation to alter nerve activity.
Medical applications include deep brain stimulation for Parkinson's disease, spinal cord stimulators for chronic pain, and transcranial magnetic stimulation for depression.
The term also describes the brain's natural process of regulating neural circuits through neurotransmitters.
