otoscopy
Looking inside ears
Otoscopy is the examination of the ear canal and eardrum using an otoscope—a handheld instrument with a light and magnifying lens.
It's a routine diagnostic procedure for detecting ear infections, blockages, or damage: The pediatrician performed an otoscopy to check for fluid behind the eardrum.
