incus
Middle ear bone
The incus is the anvil-shaped bone in the middle ear, positioned between the malleus and stapes.
These three tiny bones transmit sound vibrations from the eardrum to the inner ear.
The name comes from the Latin word for anvil, reflecting its shape.
