ossicles
Ear's bony trio
Ossicles are small bones.
The term almost always refers to the three tiny bones in the middle ear—the hammer, anvil, and stirrup—that transmit vibrations from the eardrum to the inner ear.
These are the smallest bones in the human body.
The singular ossicle occasionally appears in anatomy for any small bone or bone-like structure.
