open door policy

Accessible leadership philosophy

An open door policy is a practice where managers or leaders make themselves available to employees without requiring appointments: Our CEO maintains an open door policy—anyone can walk in with concerns.

The term also describes diplomatic or trade agreements allowing equal access to markets or territories.

In both senses, the door being "open" signals accessibility and welcome rather than barriers.
