octuplet
One of eight
An octuplet is one of eight offspring born from a single pregnancy.
The term applies to both humans and animals, though human octuplets are extremely rare and typically result from fertility treatments.
The plural octuplets usually refers to the entire set: The octuplets were born premature but healthy.
