grants

Funds for research

Grants are sums of money given by governments, institutions, or organizations for specific purposes—typically research, education, or projects serving public benefit.

Unlike loans, grants don't require repayment: She received a grant to study climate change.

To grant is to give or allow: The judge granted the motion.

By extension, granting something in argument means conceding a point: Granted, it's not perfect, but it works.
